Gree tings,
We are at the end
of 2008! My, how the time has flown! Many good things have happened this year.
There are things that have happened or that we have done or not done that we
wish we could have done differently. Take heart! This is a day of new
beginnings! Things do not have to remain the same. We don’t have to live the way
we have always lived or acted. That is the good news about starting a new year.
This is not about New Year resolutions. Most of the time we can only make
resolutions and then end up breaking them. It is about relationships. It is
about our relationship with each other and with God. God wants the best for us.
God gives us chance after chance. There is this wonderful passage from the
Gospel of John which reads “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full
of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the
Father…And from his fullness have we all received, grace upon grace.” God gives
us grace and more grace. It isn’t about counting our sins. It isn’t about
remembering all the wrong in our lives. It is about celebrating the good and the
grace that God has given to us. It is about having a relationship built on love
and mutual respect.
As we end the year and begin a new year, I invite you to know this God who wants
the best for us, who thinks the best of us, and who wants to love us more than
anything in this world. May you have a peace-filled and joyful year that is
filled with grace and love
Shalom,
